Magdalena Island, Baja Mexico
“...I wanted to let you all know that the one thing you really can't improve upon is the wonderful hospitality that Steve and the rest of the staff both on and off the island extend to the clients. I take 2 to 3 major surf trips a year and have been fortunate enough to have surfed Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji, Western Samoa, Sri Lanka, and all over Mexico, and Mag Bay is by far the best all around surfing destination I have been to. There is a wonderful combination of factors that you have captured which makes Mag Bay such a special place. Keep up the good work, and I look forward to my return.”

Mag Bay Tours has been a family enterprise guiding expeditions into the fabled grounds of Bahia Magdalena for over 15 years! We offer a wide range of expeditions for surfing, fishing, sea kayaking, whale watching, and eco-tours. Trips range from 2 to 8 days, and of course we can arrange longer stays if you want. Many do!

For surfers we have a summer camp with 3 right point breaks, and a winter camp with an experts only left point. Surfing is how we started!

Anglers can take part in the striped marlin pile-up during October-December, often referred to as the "Best Striped Marlin Fishing in the World". Mag Bay offers year 'round opportunities for anglers with bay, inshore, offshore, and fly fishing on a huge variety of species. Kayak fishing too!

Whale watchers can ride with one of our licensed captains to get close to the massive California Grey whales. Kayakers on the "outside" often get to paddle with the whales for a one-on-one experience.

Kayakers can challenge the surf, fish, or paddle for miles in the calm waters of the inner bay.

Our Expeditions include transfers from Loreto or La Paz (extra cost for La Paz Transfers), all camp meals, and our famous Mag Bay Tours hospitality. We have clients who have been coming back for more than 15 years!

Call Nick Warren today and find out why our clients keep coming back!

Mag Bay Tours offers four different base camps, two of which are located on opposite ends of Bahia Santa Maria. The third and fourth camps are located inside Mag Bay and are used for Whale Watching, bay fishing, and eco-tour camps.

Our camps are semi-permanent as we try to have as little impact on the environment as possible. The camp has a large main structure that serves as the common area, dining room, communication center, and rec. area equipped with a ping-pong table.

One of the guest structures, with the main tent in the background.

Camp is made up of large stand-up dome tents, widely spaced for your privacy. Each tent site has its own shaded and wind protected porch, and plenty of space to dry out your gear. The tents are enclosed and biting bugs are rare, but a can of repellent would be wise. Sleeping bags, pillows, and cots with air mattresses are provided. You will be surprised at the comfort. Remember, you have come to find wonderful, natural areas, free from crowds, not a fancy hotel with crowded beaches. And, please stay on the marked paths between the sites as the plant ecology is fragile.

In keeping with our low environmental impact methods, the only permanent structure at each camp is a private, sit-down, flush toilet. Keeping the area free of human waste was the motive, comfort for our clients was the bonus. The "throne" at our summer camp has what many call the best view from any toilet in Baja!

A Mag Bay tranquilizer.

Use our kayaks to go exploring the shoreline of the bay. Snorkeling is wonderful. A hike into the hills or a walk along one of our beautiful beaches will not soon be forgotten. How about a boat tour in the estuary or sport fishing? Dorado, Tuna, Yellowtail, Grouper, Pargo, Halibut, Wahoo and Marlin live in these waters. Bring your gear and catch something to brag about!

The Food is Awesome!

Meals are a key element of your stay and our experienced staff knows how to do it right! We serve three great meals a day, plus snacks are available at any time. All meals at base camp are included. Chilled bottled water is $1, juices and sodas are $1.50 each and chilled beers are $2.

Please inform us of any special dietary needs.

Dinner time is great for getting to
know your camp mates.
After dinner relax with a cold one and your new friends around a fire.
WE LOVE WHAT WE DO ! ! !
